Today's recommendation is Greek Gothic/Death metal band, Luna Obscura.
From Luna Obscura's debut full length "Feltia" (2008) I present "The Burden of Solitude"
For a first full length, this album certainly presents an level of maturity and sophistication that is beyond the expectations of a debut full length. The music has the feel/atmosphere of early Tristania and similar bands, but still posesses it's own unique qualities, and with a harder edge. Gogo's voice takes off and soars smoothly over the harsh vocals, adding further depth to the already grand expanse of sound. The orchestrations fit very well, they can be heard clearly, but are not overpowering, which is refreshing as right now many bands seem to be getting carried away with the symphonics, making them obtuse, so that rather than compliment the music they degrade it, this certainly isn't the case here.
Fitting with the name "Luna Obscura" (Latin for Dark Moon) unfortunately this band is much more obscure than it deserves to be, with the quality seen on this release the band deserves much more recognition than it currently gets.
